Actinomycosis \Ac`ti*no*my*co"sis\, n. [NL.] (Med.)
   A chronic infectious disease of cattle and man due to the
   presence of {Actinomyces bovis}. It causes local suppurating
   tumors, esp. about the jaw. Called also {lumpy jaw} or {big
