Alamode \Al"a*mode`\, adv. & a. [F. [`a] la mode after the
   fashion.]
   According to the fashion or prevailing mode. ``Alamode beef
   shops.'' --Macaulay.

Alamode \Al"a*mode`\, n.
   A thin, black silk for hoods, scarfs, etc.; -- often called
   simply mode. --Buchanan.
