Allowance \Al*low"ance\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Allowancing}.]

   To put upon a fixed allowance (esp. of provisions and drink);
   to supply in a fixed and limited quantity; as, the captain
   was obliged to allowance his crew; our provisions were
   allowanced.
