Anatomism \A*nat"o*mism\, n. [Cf. F. anatomisme.]
   1. The application of the principles of anatomy, as in art.

            The stretched and vivid anatomism of their [i. e.,
            the French] great figure painters.    --The London
                                                  Spectator.

   2. The doctrine that the anatomical structure explains all
      the phenomena of the organism or of animal life.
