Aphlogistic \Aph`lo*gis"tic\, a. [Gr. ? not inflammable; 'a
   priv. + ? set on fire. See {Phlogiston}.]
   Flameless; as, an aphlogistic lamp, in which a coil of wire
   is kept in a state of continued ignition by alcohol, without
   flame.
