Chimaera \Chi*m[ae]"ra\, n. [NL. See {Chimera}.] (Zo["o]l.)
   A cartilaginous fish of several species, belonging to the
   order Holocephali. The teeth are few and large. The head is
   furnished with appendages, and the tail terminates in a
   point.
