Deme \Deme\ (d[=e]m), n. [Gr. dh^mos.]
   1. (Gr. Antiq.) A territorial subdivision of Attica (also of
      modern Greece), corresponding to a township. --Jowett
      (Thucyd.).

   2. (Biol.) An undifferentiated aggregate of cells or
      plastids.
