Didelphous \Di*del"phous\, n. [NL. See {Didelphia}.] (Zo["o]l.)
   Formerly, any marsupial; but the term is now restricted to an
   American genus which includes the opossums, of which there
   are many species. See {Opossum}. [Written also {Didelphis}.]
