   dinotherium, fr. Gr. ? terrible + ? beast.] (Paleon.)
   A large extinct proboscidean mammal from the miocene beds of
   Europe and Asia. It is remarkable fora pair of tusks directed
   downward from the decurved apex of the lower jaw.
