   fourreau, LL. forellus, fr. OF. forre, fuerre, sheath, case,
   of German origin; cf. OHG. fuotar, akin to Goth. f[=o]dr;
   prob. not the same word as E. fodder food. Cf. {Fur},
   {Fodder} food.]
