Gittith \Git"tith\, n. [Heb.]
   A musical instrument, of unknown character, supposed by some
   to have been used by the people of Gath, and thence obtained
   by David. It is mentioned in the title of Psalms viii.,
   lxxxi., and lxxxiv. --Dr. W. Smith.
