Gleed \Gleed\ (gl[=e]d), n. [AS. gl[=e]d, fr. gl[=o]wan to glow
   as a fire; akin to D. gloed, G. glut, Icel. gl[=o][eth]. See

   A live or glowing coal; a glede. [Archaic] --Chaucer.
