Gride

Gride \Gride\, e. i. [imp. & p. p. {Grided}; p. pr. & vb. n.
   {Griding}.] [For gird, properly, to strike with a rod. See
   {Yard} a measure, and cf. {Grid} to strike, sneer.]
   To cut with a grating sound; to cut; to penetrate or pierce
   harshly; as, the griding sword. --Milton.
