Roselle \Ro*selle"\, n. (Bot.)
a malvaceous plant ({Hibiscus Sabdariffa}) cultivated in the
east and West Indies for its fleshy calyxes, which are used
for making tarts and jelly and an acid drink.

plant of the genus {Rumex}, as {Rumex Acetosa}, {Rumex

have a sour taste. It is common along the Alleghanies.
Called also {sourwood}.
{Wood sorrel} (Bot.), any plant of the genus Oxalis.
