Hypothec \Hy*poth"ec\, n. [F. hypoth[`e]que. See {Hypotheca}.]
   (Scot. Law)
   A landlord's right, independently of stipulation, over the
   stocking (cattle, implements, etc.), and crops of his tenant,
   as security for payment of rent.
