Ixtle \Ix"tle\, Ixtli \Ix"tli\([i^]x"tl[-e]), n. (Bot.)
   A Mexican name for a variety of {Agave rigida}, which
   furnishes a strong coarse fiber; also, the fiber itself,
   which is called also {pita}, and {Tampico fiber}. [Written
   also {istle}.]
