Jacquerie \Jacque`rie"\, n. [F.]
   The name given to a revolt of French peasants against the
   nobles in 1358, the leader assuming the contemptuous title,
   Jacques Bonhomme, given by the nobles to the peasantry.
   Hence, any revolt of peasants.
