Kirmess \Kir"mess\, n. [D. kermis; cf. G. kirmes; prop., church
   mass. See {Church}, and {Mass} a religious service.]
   In Europe, particularly in Belgium and Holland, and outdoor
   festival and fair; in the United States, generally an indoor
   entertainment and fair combined.
