Lachrymose \Lach"ry*mose`\, a. [L. lacrymosus, better
   lacrimosus, fr. lacrima, lacruma (also badly spelt lachryma)
   a tear, for older dacrima, akin to E. tear. See {Tear} the
   secretion.]
   Generating or shedding tears; given to shedding tears;
   suffused with tears; tearful.
