Lactucin \Lac*tu"cin\, n. [From {Lactuca}: cf. F. lactucine.]
   (Chem.)
   A white, crystalline substance, having a bitter taste and a
   neutral reaction, and forming one of the essential
   ingredients of lactucarium.
