   One of the Longirostres.

Longirostres \Lon`gi*ros"tres\, n. pl. [NL., fr. L. longus long
   + rostrum beak.] (Zo["o]l.)
   A group of birds characterized by having long slender bills,
   as the sandpipers, curlews, and ibises. It is now regarded as
   an artificial division.
