Mattering

   n. {Mattering}.]
   1. To be of importance; to import; to signify.

            It matters not how they were called.  --Locke.

   2. To form pus or matter, as an abscess; to maturate. [R.]
      ``Each slight sore mattereth.'' --Sir P. Sidney.
