Mucic \Mu"cic\, a. [L. mucus mucus: cf. F. mucique.] (Chem.)
   Pertaining to, or derived from, gums and micilaginous
   substances; specif., denoting an acid obtained by the
   oxidation of gums, dulcite, etc., as a white crystalline
   substance isomeric with saccharic acid.
