Naivet'e \Na`["i]ve`t['e]"\, n. [F. See {Na["i]ve}, and cf.
   {Nativity}.]
   Native simplicity; unaffected plainness or ingenuousness;
   artlessness.

         A story which pleases me by its na["i]vet['e] -- that
         is, by its unconscious ingenuousness.    --De Quincey.
