Orvietan

Orvietan \Or`vi*e"tan\, n. [F. orvi['e]tan: cf. It. orvietano.
   So called because invented at Orvieto, in Italy.]
   A kind of antidote for poisons; a counter poison formerly in
   vogue. [Obs.]
