Perilla \Pe*ril"la\, n. [Etymol. uncertain.] (Bot.)
   A genus of labiate herbs, of which one species ({Perilla
   ocimoides}, or {P. Nankinensis}) is often cultivated for its
   purple or variegated foliage.
