Parados \Par`a*dos\, n.; pl. {Paradoses}. [F., fr. parer to
   defend + dos back, L. dorsum.] (Fort.)
   An intercepting mound, erected in any part of a fortification
   to protect the defenders from a rear or ricochet fire; a
   traverse. --Farrow.
