   patt['e]e, fr. patte paw, foot. Cf. {Patten}.] (Her.)
   Narrow at the inner, and very broad at the other, end, or
   having its arms of that shape; -- said of a cross. See
   Illust. (8) of {Cross}. [Written also {pat['e]}, {patee}.]
