Phlorizin \Phlor"i*zin\, n. [Gr. ?, ?, bark + ? root.] (Chem.)
   A bitter white crystalline glucoside extracted from the root
   bark of the apple, pear, cherry, plum, etc. [Formerly also
   written {phloridzin}.]
