Saururae \Sau*ru"r[ae]\, n. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. ? a lizard + ? a
   tail.] (Paleon.)
   An extinct order of birds having a long vertebrated tail with
   quills along each side of it. Arch[ae]opteryx is the type.
