Scarp \Scarp\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Scarped}; p. pr. & vb. n.

   To cut down perpendicularly, or nearly so; as, to scarp the
   face of a ditch or a rock.

         From scarped cliff and quarried stone.   --Tennyson.
