Scotia \Sco"ti*a\, n. [L., fr. Gr. skoti`a darkness, a sunken
   molding in the base of a pillar, so called from the dark
   shadow it casts, from sko`tos darkness.] (Arch.)
   A concave molding used especially in classical architecture.
