Poon \Poon\, n. [Canarese ponne.]
A name for several East Indian, or their wood, used for the
masts and spars of vessels, as {Calophyllum angustifolium},
{C. inophullum}, and {Sterculia f[oe]tida}; -- called also
{peon}.
