Strand \Strand\, n. [AS. strand; akin to D., G., Sw., & Dan.
   strand, Icel. str["o]nd.]
   The shore, especially the beach of a sea, ocean, or large
   lake; rarely, the margin of a navigable river. --Chaucer.
