Tacksman \Tacks"man\, n.; pl. {Tacksmen}. (Scots Law)
   One who holds a tack or lease from another; a tenant, or
   lessee. --Sir W. Scott.

         The tacksmen, who formed what may be called the

         captains.                                --Macaulay.
