Tenaculum \Te*nac"u*lum\, n.; pl. L. {Tenacula}; E.
   {Tenaculums}. [L., a holder, fr. tenere to hold. Cf.
   {Tenaille}.] (Surg.)
   An instrument consisting of a fine, sharp hook attached to a
   handle, and used mainly for taking up arteries, and the like.
