Thomsonianism \Thom*so"ni*an*ism\, n. (Med.)
   An empirical system which assumes that the human body is
   composed of four elements, earth, air, fire, and water, and
   that vegetable medicines alone should be used; -- from the
   founder, Dr. Samuel Thomson, of Massachusetts.
