Intent \In*tent"\, n. [OE. entent, entente, attention, purpose,
   OF. entente, F. entente understanding, meaning; a participial
   noun, fr. F. & OF. entendre. See {Intend}.]
   The act of turning the mind toward an object; hence, a
   design; a purpose; intention; meaning; drift; aim.
