Tote \Tote\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Toted}; p. pr. & vb. n.
   {Toting}.] [Said to be of African origin.]
   To carry or bear; as, to tote a child over a stream; -- a
   colloquial word of the Southern States, and used esp. by
   negroes.
