      (b) A thin membrane surrounding the sporocarps of
          quillworts {Isoetes}).

   3. (Zo["o]l.) A veil-like organ or part. Especially:
      (a) The circular membrane that partially incloses the

      (b) A delicate funnel-like membrane around the flagellum
