Whinyard \Whin"yard\, n. [Cf. Prov. E. & Scot. whingar, whinger;
   perhaps from AS. winn contention, war + geard, gyrd, a staff,
   rod, yard; or cf. AS. hw[=i]nan to whistle, E. whine.]
