   agouti, acouti, Sp. aguti, fr. native name.] (Zo["o]l.)
   A rodent of the genus {Dasyprocta}, about the size of a
   rabbit, peculiar to South America and the West Indies. The
   most common species is the {Dasyprocta agouti}.
