Anethol \An"e*thol\, n. [L. anethum (see {Anise}) + -ol.]
   (Chem.)
   A substance obtained from the volatile oils of anise, fennel,
   etc., in the form of soft shining scales; -- called also
   {anise camphor}. --Watts.
