   vb. n. {Awakening}.] [OE. awakenen, awaknen, AS.
   [=a]w[ae]cnan, [=a]w[ae]cnian, v. i.; pref. on- + w[ae]cnan
   to wake. Cf. {Awake}, v. t.]
   To rouse from sleep or torpor; to awake; to wake.
