Basset \Bas"set\, a. [Cf. OF. basset somewhat low, dim. of bas
   low.] (Geol.)
   Inclined upward; as, the basset edge of strata. --Lyell.

   The edge of a geological stratum at the surface of the
   ground; the outcrop.
