1. (Physiol.) An apparatus for measuring the amount of heat
contained in bodies or developed by some mechanical or
chemical process, as friction, chemical combination,
combustion, etc.
2. (Engineering) An apparatus for measuring the proportion of
unevaporated water contained in steam.
