   {Cavilled}; p. pr. & vb. n. {Caviling} or {Cavilling}.] [L.
   cavillari to practice jesting, to censure, fr. cavilla
   bantering jests, sophistry: cf. OF. caviller.]
   To raise captious and frivolous objections; to find fault
   without good reason.
