Celibate \Cel"i*bate\, n. [L. aelibatus, fr. caelebs unmarried,
   single.]
   1. Celibate state; celibacy. [Obs.]

   2. One who is unmarried, esp. a bachelor, or one bound by
      vows not to marry.
