   {Clattered} (-t[~e]rd); p. pr. & vb. n. {Clattering}.] [AS.
   clatrung a rattle, akin to D. klateren to rattle. Cf.
   {Clack}.]
   1. To make a rattling sound by striking hard bodies together;
      to make a succession of abrupt, rattling sounds.
