Data Terminal Ready
     
         (DTR) The wire in a full {RS-232} connection
        that tells the {Data Communication Equipment} (DCE, typically
        a {modem}) that the {Data Terminal Equipment} (DTE, typically
        a computer or {terminal}) is ready to transmit and receive
